Storyline
Olumide Balogun, known as Mide, campaigns for a House of Assembly seat and dismisses a hit‑and‑run victim as an opportunist. In Power And Pretence, street survivor Onome recognizes him as the driver who nearly killed her and publicly exposes his staged charity. Humiliated, Mide orders his aides to abduct Onome and forces a fake marriage to manufacture street credibility for his campaign. Onome insists on a legal court marriage and threatens to reveal the ruse if betrayed. She moves into Mide's home and clashes with Sarah, the daughter of Mide's political godfather. The Honorable confronts Mide and demands that the original engagement to Sarah remain intact, dismissing the Onome marriage as a campaign exercise. Onome shares stolen cash from Mide's drawer with her street friends, and the gesture softens Mide toward her. Over a tense dinner the two reveal their traumas. Onome tells of an abusive uncle who is a powerful politician, and Mide admits a privileged but loveless upbringing that forged his selfishness. Inspired by Onome's mantra, Mide begins to genuinely care and funds housing for her friends. The Honorable loses patience and orders Mide to abandon Onome and honor the engagement to Sarah. When Mide tells his aide that Onome is absolutely nothing to him, Onome overhears and flees the mansion in tears. Meanwhile a rival candidate is blackmailed with a fabricated video and pressured to drop out of the race. On election day Mide wins the House of Assembly seat without the godfather's endorsement, a historic first in nearly two decades. The godfather's daughter collapses in despair as she realizes her father's power has waned. The Honorable admits his mistake in underestimating Onome and vows retaliation, setting up a looming power struggle. Onome stands beside Mide not as a prop but as a partner who forced a corrupt system to reckon with the people it exploited.
