EARLY LIFE

Zorro Sidloyi grew up and attended school in Gugulethu, a township in Cape Town, South Africa. It was during this time that his performing arts journey began when he joined local community choirs.

Zorro is a married man and a father.

CAREER

Zorro’s career started in music. He became a standout soloist for his community choir, which was recognized as the best in the Western Cape, and he represented Cape Town and the Western Cape in Johannesburg for many years. He studied Opera at the University of Cape Town (UCT) South African College of Music under Professor Gobbato. Zorro then joined a new company called Dimpho Di Kopane. Recognizing that traditional classical opera is a strictly Western art form, the group pivoted to an "Africanized" musical style. They blended opera and musicals with African elements.This unique performance style allowed him and the company to tour extensively overseas. Following his music career, he teamed up with friends (mentioning colleagues like Sandile and Thabo) to start a new venture, eventually transitioning into making films. Today, he is an established filmmaker and a well-known actor in South Africa.

Zorro has starred in a wide variety of films, many of which have gone on to win awards.
