Yusuf Balogun

Yusuf Balogun, widely known by his stage name Aremo Gemini, is a prominent Nigerian performance poet, author, storyteller, and occasional actor. He is deeply recognized as a cultural advocate in the Nigerian entertainment space for his efforts to promote Yoruba arts, culture, and oral performance. Often referred to by fans as the "Aremo of Modern Yoruba Poetry," Yusuf Balogun blends cultural storytelling with performance art. He is the self-published author of critically acclaimed Yoruba novels, including Ṣẹ̀gílọlá Arómirẹ́ Ògìdán and Ìṣẹ̀pẹ̀ (which explores deep societal issues like patriarchy and black tax). While primarily a poet and TEDx speaker, he has been credited for his roles in productions like Ejika (2021) and réBIRTH (2022). He frequently advocates for the preservation of African languages and marginalized tales, aiming to take Yoruba oral arts to global stages.
