Biography

EARLY LIFE

Wingonia Ikpi was born in Ugep, Cross River State, Nigeria, where she was exposed to stories about her family history and culture. She relocated to Abuja for her secondary education and later studied English and Literary Studies at the University of Calabar, Cross River State. During her time in school, she was recognized for her creative abilities and storytelling.

CAREER

Ikpi's storytelling instincts led her to the Nigerian film industry. She wrote her first script for the hybrid short documentary 'Eno’s Demons,' which focused on mental health and suicide, and won Best Short African Film at a film festival in Spain. In 2018, she moved to Lagos and became involved with productions like Tinsel, Africa Magic, and Halita. She wrote, directed, and produced her first personal project, 'Otana,' a short horror film, in 2020. In 2021, she participated in a directorial and production training program by Native FilmWorks and Michael Angelo Productions. Following this, she line-produced 'Flawsome Season 1.' From 2022 to 2023, she served as Content Development Producer for FilmOne Entertainment. In 2024, Ikpi officially launched Boxonia Blueprint, a film production and talent management company. Her experience includes serving as a line producer on films such as 'Toyin Abraham’s Ijakumo,' 'Okey Bakassi’s Bank Alert,' and 'Son Of The Soil.' She made her directorial debut with 'The Lost Days,' an upcoming Prime Video film. Additionally, she has collaborated with various brands including Access Bank, British American Tobacco, Urban Vision, Action Xtreme, Standard Chartered, USAID, and Innicross. She is also producing 'Nolly Babes,' a short film co-produced with Gap Tooth Smile Productions, set in the old Nollywood era.

PERSONAL LIFE

Wingonia Ikpi is dedicated to building a global brand rooted in a growing culture, a goal for which she is willing to make personal sacrifices, noting a lack of balance between her personal and professional life. Her hobbies include trying out new things and dancing.
