Umar Turaki is from Jos, Nigeria.
CAREER
Umar Turaki is an author and filmmaker. He is the author of the literary speculative novel Such a Beautiful Thing to Behold (Little A, 2022) and Every Drop of Blood Is Red (Little A, 2024). His short films have screened at festivals including the New York African Film Festival, the Pan African Film Festival, the Durban International Film Festival, the Zanzibar International Film Festival, and the Africa International Film Festival. He has also worked on Nigerian television series such as Halita and In Love and Ashes as a writer and director. He is a Lecturer in Creative Studies, Creative Writing at the University of British Columbia.
