EARLY LIFE
Tajuddeen Adepetu was born and raised in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. Although his family is originally from Erin-Oke in Osun State, he grew up in a privileged household, with his father being a wealthy businessman. After his father fell ill, Adepetu moved in with his grandmother. During his childhood in Jos, he developed a strong interest in media, spending time watching and critiquing television programs and envisioning better storytelling methods. He also learned formative lessons on honesty, self-control, and respect from his grandmother.
CAREER
Following his education, Tajuddeen Adepetu began his professional career in the early 1990s as a freelance radio producer in Jos, Nigeria. In 1990, he founded Consolidated Media Associates (CMA), initially a radio production company. In 1995, he moved to Lagos to explore more opportunities in the expanding media landscape, particularly Nollywood and television. He wrote and produced his debut drama script, 'Family Circle,' a successful situational comedy. Adepetu is also the executive producer of the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival, an annual event celebrating African music. He has mentored many media personalities, including Denrele Edun and Moet Abebe. In 2020, CMA was rebranded as Group8, a major independently owned media conglomerate in Africa, encompassing numerous television channels, radio stations, and experiential platforms. He has actively advocated for digital transformation in the Nigerian media industry.
