EARLY LIFE
Shalewa Ashafa was born on 12 July 1995 in Lagos, Nigeria, as the last (youngest) of five children. She hails from Ogun State (Ijebu-Ode) and is of Yoruba ethnicity. Due to her mother’s work, the family moved frequently during her childhood. She obtained her primary school certificate from Christ the Cornerstone Nursery and Primary School, GRA Ikeja, Lagos. For secondary education she attended multiple schools (including in Lagos, Benin, and Osun State) and graduated from Iloko Model College in Osun State. She later earned a degree in Advertising from the University of Lagos. Her interest in acting began around age 7, inspired by a relative who directed stage plays. She participated in drama clubs at church and school and performed in her first stage play at a young age.
