EARLY LIFE

Abbey Chile Abuede, professionally known as Sexy Steel, was born in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. He is the son of Chief Kehinde Abuede, a former chairman of Oshodi-Isolo Local Government Council. Sexy Steel grew up in Lagos with his siblings and attended Maryland Comprehensive School for secondary education. He later studied Fine Arts at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, graduating with a degree that supported his creative pursuits in design, fashion, and performance.

CAREER

Sexy Steel is a multifaceted Nigerian entertainer — a singer, songwriter, performer, actor, designer, stylist, and entrepreneur. His music career began while in college as part of the group High Profile. In 2009, he was discovered by Tony Nwakalor of Yes Records and signed a deal, releasing his debut album Cumbersome (2010), which included tracks like South African Girl, Taka Sufe, and Omoge Wajo. In 2012, his single Bebedi Alhaja was a major success, winning Best Video of the Year, Best Video Director, and Best Indigenous Concept at the Nigerian Music Video Awards (NMVA). Subsequent releases include Mambo (featuring Iyanya, 2013), Sisi (2015, produced by Young John), its remix with Olamide and Tekno (2016), Marie Joana (2017), I'm in Love (2018), and Ishe Kanaa Nii (featuring 9ice, 2018). He also contributed the soundtrack to Merry Men (2018). As an actor, Sexy Steel has appeared in films such as Playing Safe (2013, with Ini Edo, Tonto Dikeh, and IK Ogbonna), Awa Okunrin (Funke Akindele production), 10 Days in Sun City, and Merry Men (Ayo Makun), where he also wrote the title soundtrack. He continues to act in Nollywood projects and has been involved in stage performances. In fashion and entrepreneurship, Sexy Steel runs a clothing line called Needle and Stitches (or similar ventures) and has won multiple awards, including the Imperial Integrated Project Award for Fashion and Youth Empowerment, Nigerian Designers Fashion Award for Best Fashion Designer, and Most Fashionable Music Star (Male) at the 2015 Lagos Fashion Awards. He participates in celebrity soccer events and other ventures.

Sexy Steel maintains a relatively private personal life focused on his family roots in Lagos and Delta State. He is a Christian and has spoken about his upbringing in a prominent family. He is known for his stylish appearance and involvement in fashion, often showcasing his own designs.
