Sanda Shandu

EARLY LIFE

Sanda Shandu was born on October 1, 1992, and raised in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. He and his brother are both musicians. After completing his Bachelor of Social Science degree in Economics and Organizational Psychology at the University of Cape Town in 2015, he pursued a career in entertainment while based in Cape Town.

Sanda Shandu is a multi-award-winning South African actor, musician, and entertainer with over a decade of professional experience. He made his stage debut in Orpheus in Africa (2015) at The Fugard Theatre in Cape Town. His breakout role as Lucky Lukasi in the musical King Kong (2017) earned him critical acclaim, including Fleur du Cap and Naledi Theatre Awards for Best Supporting Actor. He has performed in numerous acclaimed theatre productions across Cape Town, Johannesburg, and London’s Marylebone Theatre, including Richard III, The Unlikely Secret Agent, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, The Promise, and Lungs. On screen, he is widely known internationally for playing Randy in Netflix’s The Kissing Booth trilogy (2018–2021). His other credits include Showmax series Skemerdans, Donkerbos, and 1960, as well as Prime Video’s Mlungu Wam and Soft Love, and the 2021 film Good Madam. In addition to acting, Shandu is a classically trained vocalist and pianist, frontman of the high-energy band The All Stars (under Get Lucky Entertainment), an original music creator, and a seasoned MC and presenter.

PERSONAL LIFE

Sanda Shandu is married to Nokulunga (Lunga) Shandu. The couple celebrated their white wedding in 2021 and have publicly shared moments from their marriage on social media.
