Biography
EARLY LIFE
Sabina Ifeoma Umeh-Akamune, popularly known as Sabina Umeh, was born around 1968 in Anambra State, Nigeria, and grew up in a family that valued education and culture. She is the daughter of a renowned playwright and professor, which gave her an early exposure to the world of creative arts, debuting as a child actress. Sabina's formative years were filled with the love of the arts. She attended secondary school in Nigeria and later earned a bachelor's degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin, Nigeria. She also won the Miss UNIBEN title while at the university.
CAREER
Sabina's journey into the limelight began with her crowning as Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) in December 1989 for the 1990 title. This marked the start of her career as a model and beauty queen. Representing Nigeria, she competed at Miss Universe 1990, Miss Intercontinental 1990, and Miss World 1990, where she won the Miss Personality award. Following her reign, she has carved a multifaceted career in music, television/film, modeling, and beauty. She has worked in public relations for cosmetic brand IKB. She is a specialist in dance, choreography, and acting. Umeh is co-founder and artistic director of Juicygroove, a music production company established in London in the mid-1990s to promote Nigerian and African talent under the 'Afrogenic' brand. In 2013, she released a promotional CD previewing her debut album 'Warrior.' She also co-founded SabinaWorld to manage her ventures, including women empowerment initiatives like Sabina For WE, and is developing a television lifestyle program celebrating African culture. She serves as Vice President of Verstaad Inc. and GPTeknisk, working alongside her husband in these dynamic fields.
PERSONAL LIFE
Sabina is married to fashion designer and former model Kese Jabari for over 30 years. Their love story began at the University of Benin, where they first met. Today, they are the proud parents of four children: Valentine, Vincent, and twin girls, Victoria and Vanessa. The couple notably featured on the cover of Mode Men Magazine in 2017. They reside in Atlanta, Georgia, having relocated to the United States to support Jabari's business ventures. Sabina emphasizes the importance of daily efforts to nurture love and fidelity within relationships and is seen as a role model for young Nigerian women, embodying grace, intelligence, and resilience.
