Roy Denanie was born on 1 May 1954. His full name is Leo Roy De Nanie. He is Igbo by tribe and hails from Enugu State, Nigeria, where he was raised from an early age.

Roy De Nanie is a veteran Nigerian Nollywood actor, movie producer, and TV personality. He began his acting career in the early 1990s and has featured in over 100 Nigerian movies and TV series. He is known for playing elderly roles in films such as 'Midnight Love' (2003), 'The Fighter' (2013), 'Chidera: What God Has Written' (2012), and 'Atinga'.
