EARLY LIFE

Patrick Fakoya was born in 1993 into a family of eight children (the only male child among seven siblings). Although he hailed from Ogun State, he was raised in Jos, Plateau State, in a culturally diverse household. He studied Law at Babcock University and briefly practiced before pursuing his passion in entertainment.

CAREER

Rico Swavey first gained widespread recognition as a housemate on Big Brother Naija Season 3 (Double Wahala, 2018), where he spent 70 days before eviction. Prior to the show, he was already involved in music and acting. He released the song Afrosantana and appeared in projects such as the drama series Tinsel and Life 101. He also featured in movies like Dark Listed (2019), Unspoken (2016), and Over Her Dead Body (2022). He was remembered as a multi-talented individual who balanced legal education with a vibrant entertainment career.

PERSONAL LIFE

Rico Swavey described himself as a protector and a “lion at heart” who stood up for the oppressed. He was known for his charming personality, love for swimming, singing, and music. He entered the Big Brother Naija house partly to support his cousin with autism and to boost his music career. He was not heavily romantically linked during the show but later mentioned liking fellow housemate Ahneeka. His family (parents and seven siblings) was supportive of his dreams. He remained unmarried and had no children.

Rico Swavey was the first Nigerian Big Brother Naija contestant to pass away after the show. His death in October 2022 after a car accident sparked widespread tributes from fans, colleagues, and the entertainment industry. He is remembered for his vibrant personality, talent, and positive spirit.
