EARLY LIFE
Razaaq Adoti was born on June 27, 1973, in Forest Gate, London, England, of Nigerian descent. He began his acting career on stage at age 17 and trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in acting. He also participated in the National Youth Music Theatre, winning the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First Award with Aesop, A New Opera and playing Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls. His first professional screen role was as a police officer in the British television show Press Gang in 1991.
CAREER
Adoti's film breakthroughs include playing Yamba in Steven Spielberg’s Amistad (1997), Yousuf Dahir Mo'alim in Ridley Scott’s Black Hawk Down (2001), Sergeant Peyton Wells in Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), and Duke in Doom (2005). He has also appeared in numerous television series, including Press Gang, The Bill, Dream Team, NCIS, American Crime Story, and Colony. Adoti founded Area Boyz, his production company, to promote diverse storytelling, particularly British-Nigerian narratives. He has produced and written for projects like 'Extra Time' and the upcoming 'Son of the Soil' (2025), where he also stars as the protagonist Zion Ladejo.
