Paulina Oduro

EARLY LIFE

Paulina Oduro was born in Sekondi-Takoradi, Ghana. At age seven, she moved to Japan for two years with her diplomat father and mother, taking classical piano lessons. At age 10, she moved to London with her parents, participating in many school plays, acting, and dancing. She became a qualified nurse but left the profession at 21 to pursue performing arts and professional singing.

CAREER

Oduro's singing career became commercial in the 1980s, where she was introduced to soca and reggae music. In 1982, she was part of the Casanova reggae band, which released the single "Loving You This Way." She went solo in 1999, launching her album 'Woman Power'. She has sung with various reggae and soca bands and performed with notable artists like Calypso King Mighty Sparrow, Arrow, Lord Kitchener, Alexander O'neil, and David Rudder. She was also a lead female vocalist with the Western Diamonds, a top highlife group in Ghana during the early to mid-1990s. Oduro also serves as a talent show judge and stage performer. Her filmography includes 'Coming to Africa' (2020), 'Love Regardless' (2015), 'The Hero: Service to Humanity' (2017), and 'Chronicles of Odumkrom: The Headmaster' (2015).

PERSONAL LIFE

Oduro reportedly moved to settle in Ghana in 2009. She has a grandson named Carter, who is a footballer in Wales, United Kingdom. She has also served as an ambassador for the 'I love My Natural Skin Tone' campaign, fighting skin bleaching in Ghana.
