Career Overview

Opeyemi Adetunji is a Nigerian actress whose filmography is being cataloged. As African cinema continues to grow globally, Opeyemi's contributions to the industry represent an important part of the continent's rich storytelling tradition.

Biography

EARLY LIFE

Opeyemi Adetunji was born and brought up in Lagos, Nigeria. She later moved to Ile Ife, Osun State, as a teenager and shuttled between Lagos and Ile-Ife during her upbringing. For her elementary education, she attended Rita Nursery and Primary School (Ojodu) and All-Stars Nursery and Primary School, both in Lagos. She then proceeded to Omole Junior Secondary School, Lagos, and completed her secondary education at Ambassadors College, Ile Ife, Osun State. She went on to study Social Studies at Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo State, where she earned a National Certificate in Education. She later attended Obafemi Awolowo University (Ace Chapter, Ondo State) and studied Guidance and Counselling.

CAREER

Opeyemi Adetunji's passion for acting was ignited after watching Sola Sobowale’s film, 'Ohun Oko S’omida’. Her acting journey began after friends in school encouraged her to consider it. She initially did not inform her parents about her acting aspirations, but both her mother and father later became aware, with her father advising her to be careful due to public perception of actors. Throughout her career, she learned not to depend on others and to work hard, prioritize God, and pray. She faced challenges in getting featured in movies, making money, and securing funds for locations, feeding, and accommodation. When choosing scripts, she prioritizes the storyline and message over monetary compensation, ensuring the role aligns with her capabilities. She looks forward to exploring diverse roles and believes many sides of her acting talent remain untapped. While the industry has been lucrative, she notes it hasn't been as good as she hoped, but not entirely bad either. She sharpens her acting skills by reading and watching many movies.

PERSONAL LIFE

Opeyemi Adetunji's greatest fear is failure. She has experienced sexual harassment in the industry and believes how one carries oneself and where one goes can influence such encounters. She used to think her face garnered the most attention, but compliments from people made her realize her breasts receive the most attention. She believes love alone is not enough to sustain a relationship; trust, good communication, and friendship are equally important. She desires a God-fearing, loving, caring, and romantic man who would spoil her with gifts. Regarding infidelity, she states that what one doesn't know won't hurt them if their partner's cheating is not obvious. She considers money, love, and sex all important in a relationship. Understanding is a crucial factor for a successful marriage, and she would not quit her career for marriage, opting instead to make adjustments if her husband is understanding. Her celebrity crush is Richard Mofe-Damijo, whom she admires for his talent and longevity in the entertainment industry. She handles heartbreaks by moving on. She doesn't intentionally flaunt her breasts on social media, viewing them as an obvious part of her and adhering to the saying, 'If you’ve got it, flaunt it'. She aspires to act alongside Ibrahim Chatta and Muyiwa Ademola, having already acted with Femi Adebayo. She once had an embarrassing encounter with a male fan who wanted to kiss her, claiming she kissed well in a particular movie. Her fashion style is described as sexy, simple, and classy. To unwind, she enjoys listening to music and going on vacations.
