EARLY LIFE

Onyinye Nnenna Odokoro, professionally known as Onyinye Odokoro, was born in Enugu, Nigeria. Her passion for performing arts emerged early, as she began acting in school stage plays at age 13. She pursued higher education in health sciences, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Science from the University of Calabar, where she was in her fourth year (400L) during 2018 and graduated in 2021.

CAREER

Despite her nursing background, Onyinye Odokoro transitioned to acting full-time after graduation, moving to Lagos in 2020 to pursue opportunities in Nollywood. She honed her skills through self-study via books by Sanford Meisner, Michael Caine (Acting in Film), and Constantin Stanislavsky (An Actor Prepares), as well as acting classes, including the 2018 AFRIFF masterclass with coaches Hilda Dokubo and Ronya Man. She made her prominent debut as Rekiya in Africa Magic's Dilemma (2021), standing out for her nuanced performance alongside veterans. Other early roles include appearances in Parallel Lines (2021), False Doors (2021), and short films for Stephanie Linus's gender-based violence initiative. She gained international exposure as Sophia in the Sky Original series Unwanted (2023), directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, which involved two months of filming in Rome, Italy.
