Omar Sheriff Captan is a veteran Ghanaian actor, director, and producer who rose to prominence in the 2000s and 2010s. He gained massive popularity for playing “bad boy” and intense character roles. He has starred in numerous Ghanaian and Nigerian films alongside top stars including Van Vicker, Majid Michel, Jackie Appiah, Prince David Osei, Kalsoume Sinare, John Dumelo, Yvonne Okoro, and Nana Ama McBrown. Some of his notable films include, Dark Sands (1999), My Sweetie (1994), My Darling Princess (2008), Innocent Soul (2007), Alicia (2006), The Chosen One (2003), July (2016), 4 Play (2010), Cheaters (2013), My Heart (2003), Crime of Love. He also appeared in the popular Nigerian soap opera Tinsel. In addition to acting, he has worked as a film director and producer. After years out of the spotlight, he revealed in 2024–2026 interviews that he had not quit acting but had been working behind the scenes as a cameraman. He resurfaced publicly in February 2026 at the press launch for Dr Likee’s UK show in Accra, looking healthy and stylish, which generated significant media attention and social media reactions. PERSONAL LIFE

Omar Sheriff Captan married his long-time girlfriend, Cindy, in 2013. The marriage later ended in divorce. He has one daughter, Grace Smith, who is also an actress. In 2020, reports emerged that his daughter had disowned him, though this remains unconfirmed in recent sources. He became a born-again Christian and is now a pastor. He has spoken openly about his faith and personal transformation in interviews.
