Biography
EARLY LIFE
Damilola Ogunsi was born in Lagos and grew up in a supportive family that treated him equally despite his albinism. He has a younger sibling who also has albinism. A Catholic priest nicknamed him “Golden Fish” (later shortened to Goldfish) during primary school for his mischievous nature. He was actively involved in drama and theatre from primary through secondary school and university. He initially worked in banking (at IBTC Bank in Abuja, reaching mid-level management) before fully transitioning to acting.
CAREER
Damilola Ogunsi began acting seriously after training at the New York Film Academy. He worked part-time in films while still in banking and fully resigned around 2017 to pursue acting full-time. He has appeared in over 30 movies and several stage productions. Notable credits include, Son of The Soil (2025), The Weekend (2024), Finding Hubby (2020), Mokalik (Mechanic) (2019), Anikulapo: Rise of the Spectre (as the “white angel”, a role that brought widespread attention and some initial criticism), Gangs of Lagos (2023) — role that earned him the nickname “Nollywood James Bond”, Tribunal (2017) with Omotola Jalade Ekeinde
PERSONAL LIFE
Damilola Ogunsi is married and has triplets. He maintains a positive outlook on living with albinism, often sharing advocacy messages, especially on International Albinism Awareness Day.
