EARLY LIFE
Ola Abaniwonda is a Nigerian-born filmmaker and producer from Abuja, Nigeria. She came to the US in 2022 to pursue her dream of being a Hollywood producer, a dream she's had since she was 13. She experienced significant culture shock upon arrival in Los Angeles, having to navigate housing, cultural differences, finances, school, and social settings independently.
CAREER
A graduate of Chapman University's MFA program in Film & Television Producing, Olabimpe Abaniwonda brings a unique blend of African and Western perspectives to her creative work. Her production experience spans from Lagos to California, where she has produced several acclaimed short films including "Judah," "The Rhythm in Blues," and "Two Full Hands." Her work "A Handsome Mind" (2020), which she produced and executive produced at age 19, gained recognition as a Finalist at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) and was selected for the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF). Beyond filmmaking, Ola's experience in broadcast journalism and voice acting enriches her approach to storytelling. She focuses on producing, line producing, and executive producing and has experience as a Unit Production Manager, Production Coordinator, Location Manager, Location Scout, Post Production Supervisor, and Set PA.
