EARLY LIFE
Ola Cardoso grew up in Surulere, Lagos, where he had his primary and secondary education. He started in the entertainment industry as a musician, sound engineer, and mix engineer between 2008 and 2010. Around 2008 or 2009, he studied mixing and mastering at the Multimedia Training Institute (MTI) in Surulere. His mother consistently supported his creative interests.
CAREER
Ola Cardoso transitioned from music production and sound engineering into cinematography. His breakthrough in Nollywood came in 2014, when he worked as a second camera on the TV series 'Before 30.' He gained significant recognition for his work on 'Banana Island Ghost.' As a cinematographer and Director of Photography (DOP), he has contributed to numerous Nollywood projects, including 'God Calling,' 'Breath of Life,' 'Makate Must Sell,' 'Journey of An African Colony: The Making of Nigeria,' 'The Blood Covenant,' 'Slum King,' and 'The Other Side of the Bridge.' He is known for his distinctive simple and realistic approach to filmmaking. From 2013 to 2021, he operated a production company called Cardoso Imagery, which was later rebranded to Film Bank. He is also currently working on his directorial debut.
PERSONAL LIFE
Ola Cardoso maintains a daily routine that includes two to three hours of exercise every morning and watching films from around 4 PM. He shares a close working and personal relationship with BB Sasore of Nemsia Studios, and they enjoy common interests like swimming and basketball.
