Okonkwo Tochukwu Levi, popularly known by his stage names Black Albino, Evangelist, or Dr. Nwoke Ogwu, was born on June 3, 1995, in Awka South, Anambra State, Nigeria. Although born and raised in Anambra, his ancestral roots trace back to Eziagu Local Government Area in Enugu State. Tochukwu was brought up in a devout Catholic Christian household, where values such as faith, education, discipline, and creativity were strongly upheld. He grew up in a supportive, close-knit family that encouraged his early passion for the performing arts—an environment that played a significant role in shaping his future in entertainment. From an early age, Tochukwu showed signs of exceptional creativity and charisma. He had a natural flair for performance and quickly became a regular face in school plays, church events, and local talent shows. By the age of 10, he had already begun his journey into the entertainment world, showcasing remarkable versatility for his age. His confidence and stage presence stood out even among older performers. Despite his growing involvement in entertainment, Tochukwu remained dedicated to his studies. He pursued a university education at Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) in Awka, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Surveying and Geoinformatics in 2018. He went on to complete his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program in Anambra State, passing out in February 2021. His ability to successfully juggle academics and creative pursuits is a testament to his drive and determination.
CAREER
Though many recognize him today as one half of the comedic duo known as the Albino Brothers, Tochukwu is the founder and creative lead behind the team. His comic alter egos — Evangelist and International Dr. Nwoke Ogwu — have become fan favorites, blending satire, cultural nuance, and street-smart wit that resonate deeply with Nigerian audiences at home and in the diaspora. Tochukwu’s professional journey began in Nollywood, where he first made his mark as a teenage actor. Over time, he diversified into stand-up comedy, skit making, music, and content creation. He has featured alongside celebrated Nollywood actors like Zubby Michael, Kanayo O. Kanayo, and Stephen Alajemba (Uwaezuoke), further cementing his reputation as a versatile and dynamic entertainer. As a prolific content creator, his comedy skits are widely circulated on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, attracting thousands of fans who appreciate his originality and storytelling skills. His humorous but impactful content often touches on social issues, youth struggles, relationships, and traditional Igbo values, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking. He has also released multiple musical tracks, using music as another outlet to express his creativity and reach a broader audience. Whether through danceable beats or lyrical storytelling, Tochukwu has continued to impress with his range and consistency. Today, he is proudly signed as a brand ambassador for Current Bitters, one of Nigeria’s leading herbal beverage companies. Along with his brother, he also represents Igbo Gist Media and Multi-Services, a growing force in Nigeria's real estate and media industries. Notable Highlights: Stage Name Irony: Despite being called “Black Albino,” Tochukwu is dark-skinned. The name is an ironic twist that gives the duo a unique identity and brand appeal. Comedy Duo: Together with his brother, he formed the “Albino Brothers,” one of Nigeria’s fast-rising comedy duos celebrated for their chemistry, storytelling, and cultural references. Multi-talented: Tochukwu’s skills span across acting, stand-up comedy, digital content, music, and MCing, making him a rare blend of talent and adaptability. PERSONAL LIFE
Tochukwu comes from a modest yet supportive family. His parents, Mr. Christopher Okonkwo and Mrs. Bridget Okonkwo, originally hail from Eziagu, Enugu State, but have long resided in Anambra State. The family has four children, and Tochukwu is the eldest of the siblings. His younger brother, Okonkwo Onyedika Anthony (popularly known as Mr Tee Albino / Onyeamuma / Daddy GO), is also his creative partner in the Albino Brothers duo. The pair’s ironic stage name — neither of them is an albino — has become a brilliant branding choice that draws attention and curiosity while cleverly challenging visual stereotypes in comedy.
