EARLY LIFE
Muyiwa Aluko was born Olumuyiwa Omotayo Aluko (also known as Muyiwa Anthony Aluko) on 22 November in Ikorodu town, Lagos State, Nigeria, to Babatunde Faniyan (a biochemist turned writer) and Vivian Afahame (a journalist, teacher, and beautician). He attended Fountain School in Lagos, Federal Government College in Minna, Niger State, and Air Force Secondary School in Ikeja, Lagos. He later graduated from the University of Jos, Plateau State, with a degree in Psychology. Initially, he pursued interests in music and media, working as a DJ, record producer, and music video director before transitioning fully into film in 2010. He also gained experience as a Director of Photography (DP), editor, and colorist on various projects, building a strong technical foundation in the industry.

Muyiwa Aluko is a multifaceted Nigerian film director, producer, writer, and head of production who began his professional film career in 2010 after earlier work in music and video direction. He has built an extensive body of work in Nollywood, contributing across multiple roles in film and television production. As a director, his credits include Ugonma (2023), Love Happens (2023), The Widow of Nkanu (2021), The Mirror (2021), The Girl King (2019), The Lost Heir (2018), Ibukun (2018), Bandits (2018), and Treachery (2017). His directorial debut includes projects like Love Regardless, and he has also directed films such as North East and When Love Comes Around. As a producer, he has worked on Ugonma (2023), Love Happens (2023), The Widow of Nkanu (2021), The Mirror (2021), Uncommon Events (2019), Ibukun (2018), and Bandits (2018), among others for platforms like ROK Studios (e.g., The Girl King, North East, Dream House, Who Is The Prep, Last Touch, What Are Friends For seasons, Death Bed, Sapio, and 3 Brothers). As a writer, his credits include The Mirror (2021), Bandits (2018), and Treachery (2017). He serves as Head of Production at Watts Camera Action, where he oversees various film projects and collaborates with industry talents. His earlier technical roles as DP, editor, and colorist have informed his versatile approach to filmmaking.
