EARLY LIFE
Muyideen Oladapo, popularly known as Lala or Lala Dapo, was born on January 28, 1970, in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. He hails from a humble background as the son of a late farmer father and a trader mother who sold okra. Growing up in modest circumstances in Osun State, Lala developed a strong passion for education from a very young age, viewing it as a pathway out of poverty and a means to personal growth. He attended Ansar-Rudeen (AUD) Primary School in Isale Osun, Osogbo, for his primary education and completed his secondary education at Mosifa Community Grammar School in Osun State. These early experiences in Osun State shaped his resilience and determination. His love for the arts and performance began to emerge during his formative years, setting the stage for a career in the Nigerian film industry. Despite financial challenges, Lala’s ambition for higher education remained a constant driving force throughout his life.
CAREER
Lala’s career in Nollywood spans over three decades, beginning in 1992 when he joined the Dagunro Theater Group. This early involvement in theater laid the foundation for his transition into film, where he has excelled as an actor, director, and producer, particularly in the Yoruba film sector. He has featured in, produced, and directed numerous movies, with an impressive filmography boasting over 76 Nollywood productions. Notable works include his acting roles in films such as Atona (2021, as Lakunle) and Omo University (2015, as Dapo), as well as directing Ayomi (2015). His versatility and dedication have earned him recognition as a respected figure in the industry. Beyond acting and directing, Lala serves as a brand ambassador and is the CEO of Delala Bread, blending his entertainment career with business ventures. He is the proud father of Olamide Oladapo, a rising producer and actress who has completed her own Master’s degree and is making significant strides in the industry through her company, Stellar Productions. Olamide has expressed plans to launch her own full-fledged production company once she gains more experience, visibility, and funding, while also prioritizing her acting career and supporting upcoming talents. Lala often shares his pride in his daughter’s achievements and her dedication to building a legacy in Nollywood.
