Biography

EARLY LIFE

Motilola Akinlami Adekunle was born on January 21, 1980, in Ondo State, Nigeria. She is originally from Ondo Town. Her father, Chief Bamikole Akinlami, died in 1991, and she was raised by her mother. She has two younger sisters, one a broadcaster and the other a lawyer. She attended St. Raphael Kiddies School and Omole Nursery and Primary School for her primary education, and St. Louis Girls Grammar School for her secondary education in Akure. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where she also actively participated in dramatic arts.

CAREER

Motilola Adekunle began her professional acting career in 2000, starring in stage plays and soap operas. Her first film role was in 'Basorun gaa,' produced by Adebayo Faleti. She also played Bimpe in the soap opera 'Share of the sun' and was known for her role as Ada in 'Valley Between.' Her first Yoruba lead role was in the movie 'IMO,' produced by Kunle Afod. Her filmography includes 'Onikaluku,' 'Adaaba,' 'Imo,' 'Mirage,' 'Ariwo Oja,' 'Apo,' 'Ogbon (Thirty),' 'Mask' (2019), 'Igbako' (2020), 'The Therapist' (2023), and 'Thinline' (2024). PERSONAL LIFE

Motilola Adekunle was married to an Air Force officer, Mr. Adekunle, whom she met during her service year in Kaduna in 2008/2009. They had two children. In 2024, she publicly announced her divorce, stating that it was a mutual decision. She has also openly shared her experiences of surviving numerous attacks and threats to her life, particularly around her birthday in January 2025, demonstrating her resilience in the face of adversity. She has also spoken out about professional sabotage allegations against other industry colleagues.
