Biography
EARLY LIFE
Moses Olumuyiwa Babatope was born on August 25, 1983, in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria. He is the first of six children and grew up in Lagos before moving to the UK for university education. He started his career in 2000 at Sainsburys Supermarkets in the UK, later transitioning to cinema exhibition in 2002.
CAREER
Moses Babatope is the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nile Media Entertainment Group, which he launched in July 2024. This group focuses on film production, distribution, cinema experiences, and talent development across Africa, comprising Nile Entertainment, Nile Cinemas, Nile Motion Pictures, Nile Studio Lab, and Nile Foundation. He is a co-founder and former Group Executive Director of Filmhouse Cinemas, West Africa's largest cinema chain, and Managing Director of FilmOne, where he oversaw the global distribution of major Nollywood films like 'Battle on Buka Street', 'Omo Ghetto: The Saga', and 'The Wedding Party' films. He has also secured international distribution partnerships with companies such as Walt Disney, Warner Brothers, Empire Entertainment, and Sony Pictures. Babatope is an Executive Producer for over 30 Nollywood films. Earlier in his career, he was the CEO of the UK-based film distribution company Talking Drum Entertainment and held a Special Project Manager role at ODEON Cinemas Group. He is also the Publisher and Editor In Chief of the annual Nigerian Box Office Year Book.
PERSONAL LIFE
Moses Babatope is married to Margaret Ayobamidele Babatope since October 11, 2008. They have two sons, Joshua Oluwatumida Babatope and Josiah Babatope. He is from Ilesa, Osun State, and is Yoruba by tribe and Christian by religion. He is based in London, United Kingdom.
