EARLY LIFE
She worked with Benue TV. She attended Benue State University in Makurdi and built an early profile through beauty pageants, including Miss Teen 2013, Miss Biossa 2013, and Queen Face of Fashion Africa 2016. These experiences preceded her deeper entry into film and television production.
Mnena Akpera is a passionate African director, producer, and cinematographer specializing in human-angle stories, documentaries, adverts, short films, and feature projects. She champions authentic African narratives and gender-equitable storytelling, Her notable credits and contributions include, Producer on A Land Apart, Producer on IYI - The Hearse Driver (2025), Co-producer on Still Falling (2021) with Dimbo Atiya, Produced/directed documentaries and short films such as The New Ancestors, The Malady (selected for the Health for All Film Festival), and I Am a Witch, Co-produced the feature film Life of Bim, Worked on M-Net series such as Halita (African Magic), Currently or previously involved in producing a 100-episode series, Worked as a consultant/expert in film and television production at Benue TV, Co-founder of Reel Empire Agency and founder of Trinity Dynamic Pictures.
She has broad experience in filmmaking, including directing, scriptwriting, and cinematography, and has appeared in discussions about challenges in the Nigerian film industry. Earlier in her career, she worked in Abuja.
