Biography

EARLY LIFE

Michael Olayinka Abdul was born on 12 February 1977 in Lagos, Nigeria. He hails from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. He received his nursery and primary education at A-Z Nursery and Mayflower School, Ikenne. He studied Electrical Engineering at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, and later studied Theology and Christian Education at Faith Christian Theological Seminary in Sango Otta, Ogun State.

CAREER

Mike Abdul's music career began professionally on November 8, 2001, when he co-founded 'The Midnight Crew,' a group known for their hit song “Igwe.” He served as an executive officer at Midnight Crew Music Limited and also worked with Spaghetti Records, a label he founded. He gained popularity after releasing albums like 'Good 2 Go,' 'Korede,' and 'Grateful.' His solo career launched in 2013 with the song "Morire," featuring Monique. He has collaborated with various Nigerian gospel artists, including MoniQue and Tim Godfrey. Abdul is recognized for his versatility as a prolific songwriter, music director, singer, and multi-instrumentalist. He has played a significant role in shaping the AfroGospel genre by fusing gospel themes with vibrant beats and rhythms, incorporating elements like Amapiano into his music. In 2021, his song "Baba Ese" was the highest-streamed music in Nigeria on Boomplay. As an actor he has appeared in several Nollywood films including, King Invincible (2017), Stepping Into Maggie's Shoes / SIMS (2020), Sold (2025), Yes I Don't (2016) and Mr & Mrs Spaghetti.
