EARLY LIFE
Mercy Nnenda Chinwo was born on September 5, 1990, in Rivers State, Nigeria. She started singing in her church's children's choir at the age of six. She attended Goodwill International School and Paradise International School for her secondary education. She is an alumna of the International Business Management Institute (IBMI), where she earned a degree in human resource management.
CAREER
Mercy Chinwo gained recognition after winning the second season of Nigerian Idol in 2012. She released her first singles, 'Testimony' and 'Igwe,' in 2015. In 2017, she signed a recording contract with EeZee Conceptz. Her single 'Excess Love' was released in 2018 and gained international acclaim. She has collaborated with artists such as Nathaniel Bassey, Chioma Jesus, and Moses Bliss. In 2023, she and her husband established the MercyisBlessed Foundation, an NGO focused on helping underprivileged communities and youth development. She also co-owns a record label with her husband, called Grace and Truth Nation (GNT).
PERSONAL LIFE
Mercy Chinwo married Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa on August 13, 2022, in Port Harcourt. They currently reside in Lagos, Nigeria, and gave birth to their first child in 2023.
