He earned widespread international acclaim playing the character Minuit in Saloum (2021), which premiered at the Toronto International International Film Festival (TIFF). He portrayed Abdul-Wakil 3 Cold Dishes (2025). He took on the role of the marabout in Sër Bi / The White Cloth (2020).

Mentor Ba was the younger brother of the highly prominent Senegalese lawyer Me Cheikh Khoureyssi Bâ, and he was married to the popular actress Amélie Mbaye.
