Biography

EARLY LIFE

Marc Rhys was born Marc Alun Williams on September 8, 1988, in Bridgend, South Wales. He is the youngest son of teachers Nevin and Jean Williams. During his education at Pencoed Comprehensive School, he showed a talent for sport, playing professional football for Cardiff City FC and Wales Under 21s. He also represented Great Britain in TAGB Tae Kwon Do at the 2006 World Championships, reaching the Quarter-Finals. He is an alumnus of Bridgend Youth Theatre, Welsh National Opera, National Youth Dance Wales, and ATSLI casting.

CAREER

Marc Rhys trained as an actor at London's Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, graduating with a 2:1 in 2011. His career highlights include his critically acclaimed stage role as Christian in Theatr Clwyd's production of 'Cyrano De Bergerac,' for which he was nominated for the Ian Charleson Awards. He also played the romantic lead, Kevin, in the Nollywood feature film 'Isoken,' filmed in Lagos, Nigeria. Other notable roles include Tommy in the feature film 'Canaries,' a biker in Sky 1's series 'Stella,' and performing in 'The Wish of My Heart' with Welsh National Opera for The Prince of Wales. He has appeared in various TV movies on ITV and BBC, the British Film Institute (BFI) 48 Hour short-listed 'Accumulation,' played Erik Jora in the Viking Epic 'Noble Claim,' and appeared in the dark comedy 'The Two Dogs' alongside Gale Harold. He also played Ethan Hunt in Future Cinema's 'Mission Impossible' opposite Elizabeth Hurley, performed in Action to the Word's multi-award-winning 'A Clockwork Orange' (touring Norway & Singapore), created the role of Lord Arthur Holmwood in Action to the Word's rock opera 'Dracula,' and featured in 'Alice in Wonderland' with SellaDoor at Greenwich Theatre. He also appeared in the BAFTA Cymru award-winning 'Cymru Fach' and Wales Theatre Company's 'A Child's Christmas in Wales.' Marc Rhys has also directed and written short films such as 'Sperm,' 'Jessica,' and 'Morning After.'
