Biography
EARLY LIFE
Born in France in 1966, Luis Marquès grew up in South America. He studied literature, art and communication at the Sorbonne and film, theatre and anthropology at the Institut d'Etudes Théâtrales in Paris.
CAREER
In 1992, he co-founded the street theatre company Yamko Téatri in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, performing internationally and supporting health campaigns. From 1998 to 2000, he produced a series of short films: 'Six Tales of Whites in Africa'. Due to the civil war in Ivory Coast, he moved to Burkina Faso, where he works as an actor for film, theatre, and TV in Ouagadougou. His film credits include 'Soleils' (2013), 'L'oeil du cyclone' (2015), and 'Marabout Chéri' (2023). In 2019, he served as a jury member at the Bushman Film Festival.
PERSONAL LIFE
He has been living in West Africa since the beginning of the 1990s. The civil war in Ivory Coast forced Luis Marquès to emigrate with his family to Burkina Faso. At the moment, Luis Marquès is working on the script for his first feature film.
