Biography
EARLY LIFE
Kolade Shasi was born in Manchester, UK on May 3, 1986, and was brought back at an early age to be raised in Lagos, Nigeria, where he hails from. He is the last of four children. He spent a year at St. Gregory's College before moving to FGC, Lagos, where he finished his secondary school education. He studied Counselling at the University of Ilorin, Kwara State, Nigeria, graduating in 2012.
CAREER
Kolade's first stint with professional acting came in 2001, at 15 years old, playing Agbonifo Obaseki in the stage drama 'Obaseki,' where he learned from renowned Thespians like Richard Mofe Damijo, Stella Damasus, Segun Arinze, and Norbert Young. He then played the titular role in the film 'Afro.' After an extended hiatus for tertiary education, he returned to the industry in 2014 as a Producer/Head-writer for his sitcom 'What Are Friends For' (WAFF). He returned to acting in 2015, taking a lead role in the third season of WAFF, and appeared in 'TINSEL' and 'Desperate Housewives Africa.' He played the titular lead in Fred Atigogo's sitcom 'House of Badmus' as Lanre Badmus, and a lead in Ndani TV's 'One Chance.' He was sub-lead in MNET's 'Love, Lies & Alibi,' had a cameo in Amaka Igwe's 'Infinity Hospital,' and was sub-lead in Emem Isong's 'Spotlight.' In 2015, he was nominated for Best Actor at the In-short Film Festival for his role in 'Blood Taxi.' He is part of the lead cast for the police procedural series 'Deceit.' In 2017, he featured in Muyiwa Aluko's 'Bandits' and 'Nothing But the Truth' for ROK Studios, and appeared as a recurring character in RED TV's 'Inspector K' web-series and as Inspector Akpan in Niyi Akinmolayan's 'Two Steps Back.' As a Casting Director since 2014, he has cast for over 20 audio-visual jobs, including TVCs, films like 'Couple of Days,' and TV series like MNET's 'Head Over Heels.' He teaches Acting at Royal Arts Academy, covering Psychology in Acting and Business in Acting. He has also been a First AD for 'Couple of Days' and 'Slow Country,' and a Screenwriter and Story Consultant.
