EARLY LIFE
Koffi Idowu Nuel was born on March 11, 1977, in Maroko, an old slum in Lagos, to a Togolese mother and a Nigerian father from Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos. He had his elementary education in Lagos, with secondary education at Molusi College in Ijebu Igbo, Ogun state. He studied Chemistry at the University of Lagos and joined Theatre 15 in 1998.
CAREER
Koffi joined Theatre 15 in 1998, training as a stage actor, dancer, and comedy opening act. His first major television breakthrough was as the 'Dauda' character on the hit comedy campus sitcom 'Twilight Zone' (also known as 'Shake Body'). In 2003, he performed at the annual 'Night of a Thousand Laughs' concert. He is a professional compere and delivers in Yoruba and Togolese Ewe. He has to his credit over 30 music albums and over 30 movies as an actor, writer, and producer. He is the author of the book 'Beauty of the Beast: The Scars that made me a star'. He has hosted various annual comedy shows including Bursting Loose, Out Of Control, Comedy Combo, Blunt Brutal Breathless, and the monthly Comedy Night Live. He also hosts the variety show 'Humour Hangout', the ethnic variety show 'Awada Express', the TV magazine programme 'Brain Behind Brands', and the sketch comedy series 'Funny Moments with Koffi Tha Guru' and 'Giggles with Koffi Tha Guru'. During the lockdown, he hosted the interactive online program 'Moment Of Solemnity'. Koffi is the creator of the word 'Splufik'. He is a member of the board of directors at COSON, head of the comedy sector for the Creative Industry Group, principal partner at First Run Ltd, and CEO of Workerman Ent and Fun Media Ltd. As of 2024, he relocated to Arlington, Texas, to expand his global reach, launching projects like the web series Destination Dallas and the upcoming sitcom Pidgin Street.
PERSONAL LIFE
Koffi Idowu Nuel is married and has three children. His mother is Togolese and his father is Nigerian from Ibeju-Lekki.
