EARLY LIFE
Kenechukwu Obiajulu was born in Enugu state and raised between Enugu and Awka in Anambra state. His teenage years and part of his adulthood were spent in Jos, where his career path was formed. His mother, a journalist and cinematographer, was his first inspiration to enter the media landscape, and he worked as her assistant for a while.
CAREER
KC Obiajulu majored in cinematography at the National Film Institute in Jos, finishing in 2011. He was mentored by Muhammad Atta Ahmed and Kagho Idhebor. He worked his way up from a second assistant camera to a first assistant camera, camera operator, and eventually a cinematographer. He is known for his storytelling through insightful visual artistry and a dramatic approach to shooting. His notable works include 'Skinny Girl in Transit' (2015), 'Knockout Blessing' (2018), 'Fade' (2019), 'Listen' (2020), 'Black Is King' (2020), 'Lockdown' (2021), 'Rehearsals' (2022), 'Glamour Girls' (2022), 'Harmattan' (2023), 'Shaping Us' (2024), 'Something About The Briggs', and the multi-award-winning film 'Over the Bridge' (2023). He also worked on commercials for brands like MTN Nigeria, DSTV, Colgate, Golden Penny, and Johnnie Walker, and documentary projects for Google News Initiative for Africa and A Pandemic Surveillance System for the Planet. He has also worked on music videos, notably Wizkid and Tems' 'Essence'.
PERSONAL LIFE
Kenechukwu Obiajulu prefers to be called 'KC' as a matter of style. He enjoys spending time alone on his days off, often staying at home and unwinding after spending much time talking to people on set.
