EARLY LIFE
Kagho Idhebor's journey into film began at the National Film Institute Jos, where he obtained a degree in film production. In 2012, he further developed his skills by earning a certificate in Advanced Cinematography from the German-funded institute, One Fine Day Films, in Nairobi, Kenya.
CAREER
Kagho Idhebor is a cinematographer and director. His recent short film, 'The Broken Mask,' won the award for Best Short Film at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2024. His debut photo essay, 'Burkina Babes,' has been screened at the Film Africa festival under the Beyond Nollywood program at BFI London, and the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO). His recent cinematography work, 'The Weekend,' was an official selection for the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival and won him the best cinematography award at the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA) in 2024. He is currently residing in Lagos, working as a freelance cinematographer and director. His project 'King of Boy: The Return of the King', an original Netflix series, is currently streaming.
PERSONAL LIFE
Troubled by a personal experience with child molestation, Kagho created a visual story that captures this societal ill in his short film 'Broken Mask'. This experience informed his decision to make the film, expressing the need for victims to be courageous enough to speak up and for families to take action against perpetrators.
