J.T. Tom West was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria in 1965 and grew up in Lagos, Nigeria.

He rose to fame after acting in the blockbuster movie State Of Emergency directed by Teco Benson. He was an actor, known for Born 2 Suffer (2002), End of State of Emergency (2005) and State of Emergency (2000). Tom West has acted in various blockbuster movies that include; Above the law, The Captor, Gang Paradise.
