Biography

EARLY LIFE

John J. Vogel was born in Akron, Ohio, on September 29, 1964. He is the second child of John J. Vogel Sr., a WWII veteran, retired Xerox salesman, and lifelong artist, and Anne Vogel, an RIT graduate and daughter of Stanton Cahill, the last private commercial fisherman on Lake Ontario. His older sister, Ruthanne, was born in 1956. John began his career in entertainment as a musician, studying at The Ohio State University and Berklee College of Music. He later moved to Los Angeles, joining the rock band Future Underworld Kings, produced by Grammy-nominated Garth Richardson.

CAREER

John J. Vogel transitioned from music to acting, making his first major on-screen appearance as the house drummer on HBO's 'The Larry Sanders Show'. His acting career further developed with roles in Jerry Bruckheimer's 'Soldier of Fortune, Inc.', the Syfy series 'Sightings', and the award-winning short film 'Jesus 2000'. He gained widespread acclaim for his portrayal of Joe Krazinsky in Scott Hoffman's 'Post Graduate', earning numerous Best Actor honors. He also stars in the critically acclaimed TV series 'Production Incorporated'. His breakthrough in Nollywood came with a co-starring role alongside Ramsey Nouah in 'Tempting Fate', followed by appearances in 'A Soldier's Story: Return from the Dead' and 'I Rise'. As a director, John has received multiple Telly, Summit, and Communicator Awards, and he co-produced 'Blue Neon Night', a documentary featuring crime author Michael Connelly.

PERSONAL LIFE

For over 21 years, John J. Vogel has been a passionate advocate for individuals with special needs. His commitment started with Celebrity Winterfest, benefiting Special Olympics Northern California/Nevada, where he helped raise significant funds. He later formed The Fresno Crew, a group of Special Needs Athletes trained to work alongside him on set, promoting inclusive opportunities in the entertainment industry. He has studied acting under Alfred Molina and renowned coach Sal Romeo.
