Biography
EARLY LIFE
Jimoh Aliu was born on November 11, 1939, in Okemesi, a city in Ekiti State, southwestern Nigeria. His father, Aliu Fakoya, was an Ifa priest from Oke-Imesi, while his mother hailed from Iloro-Ekiti.
CAREER
Aliu began acting in 1959 when he joined the Akin Ogungbe theatre group. In 1966, he established the Jimoh Aliu Concert Party in Ikare, Ondo State. He joined the Nigerian Army in 1967 and retired in 1975 to focus on drama. He produced several television drama series such as Fopomoyo featuring King Sunny Ade, Yanpan yanrin, Iku Jare Eda, and others. Notable works include Ajalu, Arelu, Igbo Olodumare, and Irinkerindo Ninu Igbo Elegbeje.
PERSONAL LIFE
Jimoh Aliu was married to the actress Orisabunmi but divorced her after discovering her affair with his friend King Sunny Ade. He forgave Sunny Ade but ended the marriage.
