EARLY LIFE

Jerry Amilo was born on 21 July 1970 in Enugu-Ukwu, Anambra State, Nigeria. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, but left the engineering path in 1993 to pursue acting full-time.

PERSONAL LIFE

Jerry Amilo is married and has three children. In October 2024, he suffered a devastating loss when his daughter, Chidera Amilo (fondly called Princess), passed away on 4 October 2024. He laid her to rest shortly after and wrote a moving tribute titled “Goodnight my Angel.”

CAREER

Jerry Amilo is one of the pioneer actors of Nollywood. He made his acting debut in 1993 playing the notorious thief Anini in the film Bruno and the Law, a role that catapulted him to fame. He has since appeared in over 200 films, becoming known for his rugged, intense performances in action, crime, and drama genres. Jerry Amilo is widely respected as a foundational figure in Nollywood.
