Biography
CAREER
Jece Valadão was a prominent actor, producer, and director in Brazilian 'Cinema Novo', known for portraying 'machão cafajeste' (macho scoundrel) roles in over a hundred films. Notable works include 'Os Cafajestes' (1962), 'Boca de Ouro', and 'Bonitinha, Mas Ordinária' (both 1963). Towards the end of his career, he appeared in the series 'Filhos do Carnaval' (2006) and 'Bang Bang' (2005). Jece Valadão worked as a producer for Black Goddess (A Deusa Negra), a historical drama written and directed by pioneering Nigerian filmmaker Ola Balogun. The film was a rare, groundbreaking co-production between Nigeria and Brazil. It tells the story of a contemporary Nigerian man traveling to Brazil to fulfill a promise to his dying grandfather to trace their family's ancestral roots back to 18th-century Yorubaland.

Born on July 24, 1930, in Campos dos Goytacazes, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Jece Valadão was married six times, including to actress Vera Gimenez. He had nine children. Approximately ten years before his death, he converted to evangelical Christianity and became a pastor, which led him to restrict his participation in audiovisual productions. He passed away on November 27, 2006, in São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, at the age of 76 due to respiratory failure and cardiac arrhythmia.
