Biography

EARLY LIFE

Ian Wordi was born on April 3 in Ghana. He received his basic to junior high education at SOS School in Tema (Greater Accra Region). He then attended St. Augustine’s College in Cape Coast in the Central Region. He later studied Land Economy at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi. During his time at KNUST, he participated in a play that sparked his interest in acting. In high school, he was notably skinny until a strong wind incident prompted him to start working out and building muscle. This physical transformation led to suggestions that he pursue modeling. In 2008, during his high school final year, he began taking modeling seriously and secured a billboard contract with the Woodin brand. He represented Ghana in the Mr. Africa contest in Nigeria and placed as first runner-up. These early experiences in modeling and university theater laid the foundation for his multifaceted career in entertainment.

Ian Wordi is a Ghanaian actor, model, and film producer with experience in both Ghanaian and Nigerian (Nollywood) entertainment industries. He began his professional journey in modeling in 2008 and transitioned into acting after university theater experiences. He has worked extensively in Nigeria, noting that Nigerian productions often offer better pay compared to Ghana, leading many Ghanaian talents to cross over. His acting credits include prominent roles in films and series such as, Sala (2017), Volcano (2020), Game On (2021), Venge (2021/2022), Ripples (2023), IYALOJA. He founded Ian Wordi Productions and has produced content while also working as a model for brands including Woodin, Samsung, Adidas, and GCB Bank. In 2023, he won the Supreme African Actor of the Year at the SDTA Awards for his role as Kamara Dede in Venge, recognizing his outstanding performance and impact in African cinema. He has been a nominee for the Ghana Movie Awards (including 2016) and other honors in Ghana and Nigeria. His career spans acting, modeling, production, and advocacy for cross-border African storytelling, with a focus on elevating Ghanaian and Nigerian talent globally.

PERSONAL LIFE

Ian Wordi maintains a relatively private personal life. He is not yet married and has shared that he has had only one girlfriend throughout his life. He owns a pizzeria called “Slices N Toppings” in Ghana and balances his acting career with business ventures.
