Henrietta Kosoko was born in 1963 in Delta State, Nigeria, under her tribal name Emumejiakpo (or Emumejiapkor). Her family later relocated to Mushin in Lagos State, where she grew up. After completing secondary education, she trained as a caterer and initially operated a catering business. Her passion for acting emerged early through school plays and church productions. Henrietta Kosoko was a prominent Nollywood actress, particularly known for her work in Yoruba-language films. She entered the industry in 1995 and gained widespread recognition that same year with lead roles in the Yoruba film Omolade (produced by her husband Jide Kosoko) and the English-language film Onome. These breakthrough performances established her as a talented actress capable of portraying strong-willed women and maternal figures. She starred in numerous Yoruba films, including Eleda Teju (2007), Boya Lemo, Tango with Me (2010), Osas (Omologe Benin) (2012), and Ewon Laafin (2015). Her work often explored family dynamics, social issues, and traditional narratives, contributing significantly to the growth of Yoruba cinema within Nollywood. She collaborated professionally with her husband on several projects and was praised for her versatility, talent, and mentoring of emerging talents. As a member of the ANTP, she was an active participant in the Nigerian theatre and film community. PERSONAL LIFE

Henrietta Kosoko was married to veteran Nollywood actor Prince Jide Kosoko. Their relationship began in 1993 during the premiere of one of her early films in Mushin, Lagos, and they wed in 1995. The marriage was part of Jide Kosoko’s polygamous household; he had previously lost his first two wives in childbirth and later married Alhaja Kareemat. Henrietta had been previously married and separated before uniting with Jide. Together, they had two children: son Muyiwa Kosoko and daughter Temilade Kosoko (Temi). From her previous marriage, she had twin sons Taiwo and Kehinde Olowu. Taiwo pursued a career as the hip-hop artist Eltee Skhillz and studied accounting, while Kehinde studied economics; both attended Houdegbe North American University in Benin Republic. Henrietta played a maternal role in raising Jide’s stepchildren, including Sola Kosoko and Bidemi Kosoko, within their polygamous family setup. She was described by her husband as a pillar of love, grace, and strength. Family tributes highlight her dignity, warmth, and influence as a mother and wife. She was diagnosed with diabetes in adulthood and managed it for years. In February 2015, she survived a near-fatal automobile accident along the Sagamu–Abeokuta expressway. Henrietta passed away on 6 June 2016 at age 53 after slumping at her Lagos home due to diabetes complications. She was rushed to Sacred Heart Catholic Hospital in Lantoro, Abeokuta, Ogun State, where she was pronounced dead on arrival. Initial burial plans in Lagos faced objections from her Delta State family over unpaid dowry and marriage recognition, leading to her burial on 10 June 2016 in Abraka, Delta State. Her daughter Temilade later studied theatre arts at university (graduating with second-class upper honours) and has pursued acting, promising to make her mother proud. Family members, including Jide Kosoko and Temilade, continue to honour her memory with annual tributes, describing her as a source of strength whose children are thriving.
