Biography
EARLY LIFE
Hans Jürgen Pohland was born on 4 December 1934 in Berlin, Germany.
CAREER
He was a producer, director, and writer, known for films such as Tamara (1968), Warum die UFOs unseren Salat klauen (1980) and Auf Scheißer schießt man nicht (1969). He also served as a member of the jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in 1965. Hansjürgen Pohland directed and produced the 1971 film adaptation of Things Fall Apart. He collaborated with Nigerian producer Francis Oladele to make the movie, combining Chinua Achebe's famous novels Things Fall Apart and No Longer at Ease. It was a historic project, marking the first feature film shot entirely on location in Nigeria.
PERSONAL LIFE
He died on 17 May 2014 in Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Département Alpes-Maritimes, France, due to drowning.
