EARLY LIFE

Funmi Awelewa was born on October 12, 1993, in Ayeye, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, though her family roots trace to Iwo in Osun State. She was raised in Ibadan, where she completed her primary education at Francis ‘M’ Nursery and Primary School, Agbowo, and secondary education at Orogun Grammar School. She later pursued higher education at the University of Ibadan, earning qualifications in Library Archival and Information Studies before fully transitioning into the entertainment industry.

CAREER

Funmi Awelewa is known for her roles in Yoruba-language Nollywood films. Her roles inludes, Aromimawe (2016), Ewon Ife (2021), Jankariwo (2021), Looking for Baami (2019), Aiyetoro Town. She is recognized for comic and emotional supporting roles. Beyond acting, she works as a writer, producer, and fashion designer. She has built a strong following as a digital content creator, sharing lifestyle, comedy skits, fashion, and self-love content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. She is part of the vibrant Yoruba film scene and is often referred to affectionately as “Morili Omo Ibadan.”
