Biography

Folasade Abimbola’s passion for acting began in childhood. She engaged in role-playing games with friends at home and school and was fascinated by TV dramas and how actors could pretend to be different people while evoking strong emotions. After primary school, she made a firm decision to pursue acting. She started performing in her church and later participated in school and community productions. While in secondary school in 2001, she took part in a UNESCO project on Modern Slavery, a drama directed by her teachers that featured two notable Nollywood actors.

Folasade Abimbola began her professional acting journey in 2006 with her first major role in the TV sitcom Kamson’s & Neighbors produced by Rockview Productions. She has since appeared in numerous stage plays, screen productions, and radio dramas. Her known credits include, The Anniversary (2015), Kamson’s & Neighbors (2006, TV Sitcom), Closed, Where does Beauty Go, Superstar Me, Sons and Daughters, Kurunmi, Play 2010, We will Live, Burn, Mixed Feelings, The Valley Between, Girls Quarters, Infinity Hospital, Still in Bondage, Shuga Radio 1 (Radio Drama), UNESCO project on Modern Slavery (2001, school/UNESCO drama). She is recognized for her truthful and committed approach to characters, and she continues to work in both acting and producing roles within the Nigerian film and theatre industry.

Folasade Abimbola is described as a hardworking, driven, determined, opinionated, talented, smart, dogged, fashionable, and petite but strong no-nonsense lady. She is a fitness enthusiast and lover of life who also identifies as a workaholic. Her hobbies include solving crossword puzzles, watching movies, swimming, singing, dancing, and dressing up. She has special skills in sewing and designing clothes. She speaks English and Yoruba fluently.
