Biography
EARLY LIFE
Emem Ema was born into a family of creatives in Etinan, Akwa Ibom State. Her father, Inyang Ema, was a renowned set designer in Nigerian television, and her mother was also involved in television, providing Emem with an upbringing steeped in art, expression, performance, and cultural storytelling.
CAREER
Emem Ema initially pursued a Law degree from the University of Lagos but later transitioned into music. She gained national prominence as a founding member and frontliner of KUSH, an early-2000s contemporary Christian group. After KUSH disbanded, she reinvented herself, founding ONE Management and Vzhun, two influential artist management and creative direction companies. In these roles, she has utilized her legal training to protect artists, nurture their brands, and foster sustainable careers. She is also a prolific producer, writer, and music coordinator, with her work evident in numerous major music shows, festivals, and entertainment productions in Nigeria. Her producing credits include 'Baby Drama' (2021), 'Gwoza' (2025), '[k]PALI' (2019), and 'Kamsi' (2018). She also served as a music coordinator for 'Tango with Me' (2010) and creator for 'Baby Drama' (2021). She is also known for mentoring emerging artists and educating them on the business aspects of creativity.
