Ella Emefiele is a healthcare professional who ventured into Nollywood as a producer, actress, and storyteller with a focus on impactful, issue-based filmmaking. She produced and acted in her debut feature film The Scar , which addresses the physical, emotional, and sexual consequences of female genital mutilation (FGM) on women, including reduced sexual pleasure, complications like infections and bleeding, depression, and marital issues. The film also highlights potential solutions such as clitoroplasty (a reconstructive procedure). The Scar draws from real-life stories she encountered during her nursing practice. The film was directed by Robert Peters, with Trinity Ugonabo as associate producer and a script by Osita. It was shot over 8 days in Dallas and 2 days in Atlanta. Ella Emefiele and her husband Collins John Emefiele also appear in the cast.
