Ella Chikezie

EARLY LIFE

Ella Chikezie started writing stories as a child, progressing through her teenage years and into young adulthood, always considering herself a storyteller.

CAREER

Ella Chikezie is an award-winning poet, screenwriter, and filmmaker. She founded her blog, Ella Writes Naija, in 2015. She was shortlisted for the Accelerate Filmmaker's Project in 2019. In 2020, she became a filmmaker, copywriter, screenwriter, producer, and TV commercial creator, also opening her own media company, FlyGrade Media. She scripted, performed, and co-produced 'The Colour of Struggle,' a spoken word poetry video in January 2019. She currently works as a screenwriter at Orange VFX Studios, a leading animation company in Nigeria, and has previously served as an administrative officer for the Lagos International Poetry Festival.

PERSONAL LIFE

Ella Chikezie is a chronic bibliophile and loves to travel. She is passionate about creating world-class movies and animation films and hopes to inspire change and unite people by re-telling the African narrative. She is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
