EARLY LIFE
Edith Nwekenta is a British-born, Ghanaian-Nigerian filmmaker who graduated from De Montfort University with a BSc in Media Production.
CAREER
She is a producer and director working across film, television, commercials, and music videos in the UK, Nigeria, and Ghana. Her work includes producing and directing TV series, web campaigns, music videos for artists like Stonebwoy, Wande Coal, Patoranking, J Hus, and NSG, and commercials for brands such as Schweppes, Club Beer, and Cam Dairies. Nwekenta co-wrote and produced the award-winning short film "Unspoken" (2012) and her first feature film, "Mum, Dad, Meet Sam" (2013), which premiered in Nigeria in 2015 and was streamed on Netflix for two years. She also wrote and co-produced the award-winning short film "Prey" (2015). After directing season 2 of "The Olive" for Accelerate TV, she went on to produce the feature film 'The Order of Things', currently available on Netflix. She is an outspoken advocate for greater female representation in directing.
