Biography
EARLY LIFE
Delmwa Deshi-Kura was born in Lafia, Nasarawa State, and raised in Sokoto and Jos Plateau, in northern Nigeria. The second of five children, her love for media and television was sparked at an early age by her father, Nde Charles Deshi, who worked at the state-owned television network. Her mother, Lydia Deshi, was a real estate entrepreneur. From a young age, Delmwa appeared on children’s TV and radio shows on PRTV Jos and NTA Jos. She studied English Literature and Linguistics at the University of Jos, graduating with a Combined Honors B.A. Degree in 2005. She pursued an MBA at The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi, in 2008, and Enterprise Development Studies at The Lagos Business School in 2009. In 2015, Delmwa expanded her expertise in filmmaking by studying Directing at the Relativity School of Film Studies, Los Angeles Center Studios Campus, California.
CAREER
After graduation, Delmwa served as a Staff Writer at The Path Newspaper Company for her mandatory National Youth Service Corp in Sokoto. Afterwards, she took on the role of a Jnr News Reporter on NTA News Jos, while producing and anchoring a Prime Time Youth-focused Political News Program titled Generationnext. The success of Generationnext led to Delmwa’s selection to the Goldman Sachs 10,000 women program in 2008. During this period, she researched and produced News-styled mini-documentaries, and earned a spot on the British Councils’ Creative Lives Project. Delmwa next worked on the earlier seasons of Inspire Africa’s (Now EbonyLife) Moments With Mo, spearheading Media Buying & Planning. In 2011 Delmwa proceeded to Mnet on DSTV’s Multichoice Network where she worked across multiple shows as an In-House Producer, Screenwriter, Post-Production Producer, and Field Director across Pan-African TV Shows including Tinsel, Jara, 53Xtra, and Channel O. Delmwa founded DelMedia Productions in 2007, creating its first independent project, Generation Next. DelMedia Productions has grown into a leading Pan-African content powerhouse, producing shows like The Real Housewives of Abuja, Date My Family Nigeria, and Duplicity. In 2023, Deshi-Kura partnered with Luminate Group to launch the Naija NextGen Campaign. She is currently pioneering a mass virtual skill transfer revolution aimed at boosting Africa’s media and entertainment industry.
